How do I design packaging with RHIEM?

The success of successful packaging is the result of equally successful cooperation.

In addition to the special success factors for packaging, there are technical, legal and, last but not least, commercial framework conditions to consider and therefore quickly more than 100 different examination criteria in the development phase of packaging.

Don’t be alarmed – we go through most of the tests without you even noticing.

In which phases does packaging development take place before production can start?

Inquiry phase

Based on your information on the product, from marketing, purchasing and logistics, we create an internal, technical briefing for packaging development.

With this information from you and/or our assumptions, we can now start the technical development of packaging. Depending on the above information, we select the ideal design and the appropriate material.

Design phase

The artwork can now be created based on the contour of the packaging. We will provide you with an information sheet on technical conditions so that you or your design agency can create the graphics for subsequent printing.

We will check this artwork according to technical criteria before production and prepare it for offset printing. We will then provide you with a PDF document so that you can check the completeness and placement of your design. In special cases, we also match color references or fine-tune the color during a press proof.

Construction phase

As a result of the technical design, we then seek agreement on the basis of a 3D design or a white sample.

A white sample is a sample of your individual design with a suitable material. We use our sample warehouse for solid board, corrugated and plastic materials and plot the contour of your packaging and the creasing lines with our plotter.

Test phase

You can use our sample to carry out the relevant tests in your company and issue us with a “white sample approval” for the subsequent punching tool. If it is an automatic packaging machine, a special 0 series for testing and optimizing the (semi-)automatic packaging machine usually follows.
